Pag-IBIG Fund Disburses Billions Through SAFE Loan Program

The Pag-IBIG Fund has successfully distributed P5.82 billion in financial aid to hundreds of thousands of individuals through its Special Assistance for Financial Emergencies (SAFE) loans. This initiative has reached over 800,000 members shortly after its initial rollout. According to Jose Ramon Aliling, Secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and chairman of the Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees, this initiative was designed to offer members accessible and affordable monetary support during challenging periods.

Special Assistance for Financial Emergencies: Program Details

The SAFE loan initiative offers flexible borrowing options tailored for members facing sudden monetary needs.

Borrowing Limits and Pag-IBIG Regular Savings

Eligible individuals are allowed to secure up to P10,000 under this facility. Alternatively, they can borrow an amount equivalent to 90 percent of their accumulated Pag-IBIG Regular Savings, depending on which figure is lower.

    Interest Rates and Payment Terms

This financial assistance features a highly competitive 5.95 percent annual interest rate. To ease the immediate burden on borrowers, the agency provides a three-month grace period before any repayment is required. Once the grace period concludes, the borrowed amount can be paid back over flexible terms of 12, 24, or 36 months.

    Member Qualifications for SAFE Loans

To qualify for this financial aid, applicants must meet specific membership criteria. Individuals are required to be active members and must have accumulated a minimum of 12 monthly savings contributions. Furthermore, applicants must maintain a clean record with no existing Pag-IBIG loan defaults.

Marilene Acosta, the chief executive officer of the Pag-IBIG Fund, noted that the massive turnout for the program highlights the agency's dedication to supporting members' urgent financial requirements while concurrently sustaining their affordable housing loan services.

    Virtual Pag-IBIG Application Process

Members seeking to take advantage of this financial emergency program have multiple avenues for submission. Applications can be processed digitally through the Virtual Pag-IBIG platform, offering a convenient online option. Alternatively, individuals can visit and apply at any physical Pag-IBIG branch located nationwide while the program remains active.
